Photo Coloring: How To Colorize Photos Easily!

by Dan on May 13, 2011

Coloring photos is fairly easy when you get the hang of it and also very rewarding. I’m sure everyone remembers coloring sketches during their childhood, well photo coloring is not that different! It’s an art really, because it’s critical that you choose the right colors and make them blend in well with each other. It’s not as easy as slapping on one color for the skin, one on the hair and so on, it takes time to get that natural look and feel. To colorize photos is the last and final step in photo restoration, although it’s not necessary to do it. It’s fun though!

Photo Coloring Example

My Grandmother

In this example I colorized a photo of my grandmother. Notice the different skin tones in her face, it’s not just a matter of slapping on color layer for the skin if you want to get a natural result. A photo colorization like this would cost at least $40-80 at most professional photo restoration services, but it’s really easy to learn how to do it yourself so why not give it a try and save yourself some of that hard earned cash?

Have you tried coloring a photo? How did it turn out? Leave a comment below!

In this tutorial, there is two icons showing which makes it difficult to follow the main icon.

Are you referring to the cursor? I’m not seeing two cursors, although I’ll upload a new video and highlight the cursor. Hopefully that will make it easier for you to follow.

Thanks for the feedback,
Dan
